What is Post-Pickup?
Post-Pickup is the option of having your belongings picked up AFTER you checkout of your residence hall and return home. Campus Carriers will work with Residence Life to access rooms and retrieve student belongings after checkout. This means that you will NOT have to wait on Campus Carriers staff to get your belongings picked up but instead you will prepare your items for pick up at your leisure and AFTER you checkout of your residence hall, Campus Carriers staff will enter your old room to get your items.
Those that take advantage of Post-Pickup will NOT need to be present for a specific Pick Up Date and Time and will simply need to follow the necessary steps and preparation instructions for Post-Pickup prior to checking out of their residence hall.
How do you participate in the Post-Pickup option?
All you have to do is reserve your space. Post Pick-Up is standard for all students living on campus at SCAD. Post-Pickup requires you to follow the instructions below when preparing your belongings for Post-Pickup.
Post-Pickup Instructions
First, it is important to understand that Post-Pickup Preparation Instructions are IN ADDITION to the standard Instructions for Labeling Your Items and Packing Tips and Instructions.
SECOND, Properly labeling and packing your items is crucial for Pick Up, Storage, and Delivery to go smoothly. Quality control is a top priority, and you adhering to these instructions will help us maintain the high service standards we promise to deliver. To avoid any issues, make certain to review the following instructions in detail.
Constructing Your Boxes
Information regarding the proper construction is covered in detail in Packing Tips and Instructions. However, this step is very important. Boxes that aren’t constructed properly do not securely hold items, can fall apart etc. Make sure to follow all of the necessary details when constructing your boxes.
Remember, any corrugated box used for your reservation MUST be a Campus Carriers box. Third-party corrugated cardboard boxes for general packing that are not specific containers for the items in the Campus Carriers Oversized Item list and Reservation Process are not permitted.
Please remain mindful of the box (and other container) weight limit. Boxes and other vessels for storage such as plastic bins, trunks, suitcases, etc. must not exceed 50 lbs. Plastic drawers must not exceed 25 lbs. More information can be found in the Packing Tips and Instructions.
Labeling Your Items
All of your items must be labeled with Item Labels according to our Instructions for Labeling Your Items.
Boxes - All boxes must have the STUDENT'S FIRST AND LAST NAME and Reservation ID written on the top of the box in addition to an Item Label affixed to the top left corner of the short side of the box. You can find your Reservation ID in previous e-mails as well as by logging into your account at CampusCarriers.com/my-account.
Other Oversized Items - Item Labels will need to be affixed to every item being picked up during Post-Pickup and being stored with Campus Carriers. Here are detailed Instructions for Labeling Your Items.
Your Reservation Details Must Be Accurate and any Addition or Removal of Items Must Be Completed Prior to Completing Your Final Inventory Check
If you need to add Boxes or Tape to your Reservation, you will need to add them prior to Material Distribution ending.
Any other items you wish to add to your Reservation can be done prior to completing your Final Inventory Check. Learn more about the Final Inventory Check.
Everything MUST Be Kept Neat Prior to Checkout
It is extremely important that you understand that all other SCAD Housing checkout procedures must be followed. Your residence hall must be neat, cleaned, etc. The ONLY things left in your room should be the specific items being picked up by Campus Carriers and must be all items that are on your reservation and paid for.
Campus Carriers has made the necessary arrangements to allow you to keep your items being stored for the summer in your room after checkout but this DOES NOT alleviate you of your responsibility to have all other necessary checkout procedures complete.
All items being picked up by Campus Carriers should be together in one area of your room. Items must not be scattered all around the residence hall rooms. This is very important to keep things organized and not risk Campus Carriers staff missing items being picked up, etc.
Absolutely No Trash Or Other Items Left Behind
It is imperative that no trash is left behind in your residence hall room. As mentioned, all other checkout procedures need to be followed and this is your responsibility in order to avoid fines or other penalties by SCAD Housing. The only items permitted to be left behind in your room should be exactly the items that are on your Campus Carriers reservation being picked up and stored. Once Campus Carriers staff has picked up your items from your reservation there should be NOTHING left in your room that shouldn’t be there. Make certain that all trash and any items not on your reservation are removed prior to your checkout.
Confirm Your Room Number, Residence Hall, and Contact Information
Make absolutely certain that the residence hall room number and residence hall are accurate on your Campus Carriers reservation. Failure to provide accurate room number and residence hall information means that Campus Carriers staff will be unable to locate your items. Additionally, Post-Pickup MUST occur from the room you were contracted to live in with SCAD Housing. NO EXCEPTIONS.
